Skeie Drilling & Production ASA

Skeie Drilling & Production ASA (SKDP) is a new drilling company which has contracted three N Class jack-up rigs from Keppel FELS in Singapore. The company was founded by the Skeie Group in Kristiansand and Keppel FELS. The company is today listed on the OTC (Over the Counter) in Oslo. Skeie Technology currently holds 49% of the shares, Keppel FELS 10% while the remaining 41% is held by Norwegian and foreign investors.

The jack-up rigs have been designed for simultaneous drilling and production and will be delivered from the yard during 2010 and 2011.
Skeie Drilling & Production new Jack-Up Drilling Units are a significantly upgraded version of the well-proven KFELS Super B Class. The new type is called Class N, designed to fit the NCS and Norwegian Authority requirements with regard to North Sea environmental data and HSE working conditions.

The Units are designed with drilling capabilities that exceeds those of competing units, and special emphasis has been given to areas that will give future clients concrete benefits as well as reaching targets beyond those of competing units:

  • The Units are laid out to effectively drill in the deep and ultra-deep (35,000 ft and beyond) gas segment. To accomplish this objective the units are fitted with a 2,000,000 lbs Hoisting Assembly and Topdrive, capacity to rack 35,000 ft of 5 7/8” Drillpipe, 4,600 hp Drawworks and with a large capacity Mud System.
  • The Hoisting Assembly capability; together with the large Mud Pumps, Liquid Mud and Bulk capacities, ensure that the units can reach remote Oil & Gas Pockets by means of Horizontal Drilling.
  • The Well Control Equipment is arranged for 15,000 psi and high temperature operations (– HPHT wells).
  • The Units are also arranged for being effectively used in production drilling mode from new or existing wellhead platforms, or by means of an own carried wellhead module and platform.
  • A skidding system enables the well center to be moved within a 75 x 40 ft envelope both in primary and secondary position of the cantilever.
  • Minimizing time lost during jacking and pre-load operations has been another important criterion for this type of Unit. The units are designed to allow jacking with full Pre-load in a single stage operation.
